Tall perennial with bright yellow, ragged, daisy-like flowers in summer. The leaves are large, oval-toothed, slightly downy underneath, and of a midgreen colour. Dies back fully in winter. Plant in a moist fertile soil, in full sun, sheltered from the wind. It is a good solitaire plant. Dried root preparations are used for coughs, stimulate digestion, and tone the stomach.
