Greenhouses Conservatories and more
We are agents for 'Hoklartherm' and 'KGT', German companies well established in the production and development of high quality aluminium greenhouses and conservatories. The best place for the greenhouse Delivery and set up of your greenhouse For the keen gardener, his greenhouse is his pride and joy. For growing tender vegetables e.g. tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers as well as tropical plants such as oranges, lemons or orchids and cacti, a greenhouse is essential. In
addition the growing season can be brought forward or extended by weeks
and, whatever the Irish weather, sowing and propagation can start
safely in early spring.
Today 95% of greenhouses are built from aluminium. It is proven to be the best material for small as well as large greenhouses. Aluminium is weatherproof and everlasting. However it is important to compare thickness and design of aluminium frames. You will find that 'Hoklartherm' and 'KGT' frames are extra strong and of solid design. The use of four sided boxed sections of heavy gauge aluminium provides outstanding strength and durability. There is a wide range of powder coated colours available enhancing aesthetic value and low maintenance. The best place for setting up a freestanding greenhouse is in a sunny and sheltered position. However the heavy duty constructed ‘Hoklartherm’ and 'KGT' greenhouses are suitable even for exposed areas and sites. Freestanding Greenhouses: Top
These are the most common greenhouses. We supply a range of eleven models in different width: Bio-top I: 2.09m (6'10'') wide Cork S: 2.32m (7'7'') wide Mizen: 2.33m (7'8'') wide Bio-top II: 2.66m (8'9'') wide Cork: 2.95m (9'8'') wide Aran / Shannon: 2.97m (9'9'') wide Bio-top III: 3.11m (10'2'') wide Cork XL: 4.24m (14'3'') wide Vario I: 3.21m (10'6'') wide Vario II: 3.11m (10'26'') wide (length available see 'greenhouses self assembly' or 'greenhouses')
Lean-to greenhouses are attached to the wall of a house. Our models 'Viola' and 'Florence' are available in many different sizes, fitting all situations. If used as a conservatory double glazing and an insulated base are essential. For more details see Lean-to's / Solar porches
Stylish designs such as a Pavilion-greenhouse create an exciting feature in many gardens.
For special requirements we offer a wide range

greenhouses Cold frames, blinds, staging (tables, shelves), ventilation, heaters, warming pads and heating mats and more propagation equipment as well as handy sundries. For more details see accessoriesThe choice of glazing materials is a very important consideration when purchasing a greenhouse. It depends to a great extent on the intended use. A heated greenhouse or conservatory with
temperatures not below 10°-16°C requires insulated glazing such as 16mm
Polycarbonate, Perspex or double-glazing. A cold greenhouse is preferably
glazed with insulated glazing (e.g. 10mm Polycarbonate sheets) as well or
with 4mm single toughened glass. Please
note: we don’t do any cheap, easy shattered horticulture glass.
The
use of plastic glazing has become more and more common. Nearly 70% of
the greenhouses made in Europe are glazed with Polycarbonate or
Perspex.
Both materials are durable, UV-stabilized and almost unbreakable. The light diffusion is ideal for the growth of plants. The insulating qualities causes steady temperature in the greenhouse creating a better growing habitat.
Interesting facts on glazing:
A
substantial base is essential for fixing the greenhouse properly
to the ground.
A plinth (foundation frame) is cheap, easy to install and allows the greenhouse to be moved in the future. This aluminium frame is available for most* greenhouses to fit exactly each size. (* very large greenhouses require a concrete or block base) With a concrete base or a dwarf wall made of concrete blocks the greenhouse will be fixed with stainless steel screws or bolts. A dwarf wall of any desired height provides an increase in overall height and volume of a greenhouse. A greenhouse modification with a drop Door down to ground level allows easy access. A slab base may be too soft; a base from railway sleepers can evaporate poisonous impregnation. Delivery of your greenhouse: Top We deliver your ‘Hoklartherm’ greenhouse or
conservatory to your home and do the set up. You should
prepare the base. Of course we provide dimensions and advice. 'KGT' greenhouses come flat packed ex 'Peppermint Farm' (delivery and set up service available). Please
